Spread the word.

It’s hard to start earning money if no one knows that you’re available to work. You need to tell your family and neighbors about your skills before they can ask for your help.

Think about the last movie you saw. How did you find out about it? Maybe you saw a preview, heard about it from your friends, or noticed a poster. Those things probably cost thousands of dollars, but you can tell people about your services — for a lot less.

Start simply. What better way of finding out if anyone wants lemonade than by asking aloud? Your voice can be a pretty powerful tool for announcing that you want to work. So can a marker and some paper.

For instance, Malik went right up to his neighbors and offered to walk their camels for $5. Later, he made notices and put them under his neighbors’ doors. Now he walks six camels per week and earns $30.

Once you’ve begun working, keep in mind that the best way to spread the word is to do a great job. If people like what you do, they’ll tell their friends, and your good reputation will find you the most work of all.
