The Work Dunes
Finding a job can be puzzling.

Malik puts the pieces of the job search puzzle together

Sometimes you need to be a detective to find work. You have a puzzle with two types of pieces — people's needs and your skills. All you have to do is find a way for those two pieces to fit, and you've found some work!

If you look around your house or neighborhood, you'll find that a lot of things need to be done. Dogs need walking, lawns need mowing, little kids need babysitting, newspapers need delivering, yurts need tidying, camels need grooming — the list goes on and on.

You probably have more skills than other people have needs. It's just a matter of matching those skills with what other people need or want. If you can ride a bike and throw pretty well, a newspaper delivery route might be perfect for you. If you're an expert at making lemonade, you might want to open a lemonade stand for thirsty passers by. Just remember that not all skills can be used for work. Your abilities to rake leaves or take care of little kids are more likely to be valuable to people than your talent for crossing your eyes.
