If you’re in another country, you can exchange
the currency you have for the currency you need at certain
banks, airports, and hotels or by withdrawing from an
ATM machine. These places will post an exchange rate,
which will tell you how much 1 unit of your currency
is worth in exchange for the currency that they carry.
Nearly everyone visiting East Exchange comes to take
a look at Planet Orange’s largest rubber band
ball. We should take a look at it while we’re
here, but before we tackle the five-story sphere of
rubber, you’ll need some money to pay the entrance
fee. We’ll have to go to the bank to get some
of the local currency: rinds. Here's the chart we'll
see there:
1 US dollar
=
350 rinds
1 British pound
=
525 rinds
1 Euro
=
340 rinds
1 Japanese yen
=
3 rinds
What this means is that the value of $1 equals the
value of 350 rinds, just as 1 pound equals 525 rinds,
1 Euro equals 340 rinds, and 1 yen equals 3 rinds. So
if you arrive at the bank with $1, the bank will trade
your dollar for 350 rinds. Just remember that 350 rinds
might seem like a lot, but its value is equal to just
a dollar.
If you have rinds left over when we’re done with
the rubber band ball, you can take some home as a souvenir
and start a collection like mine.
